Today we attended the crab advisory meeting, as spectators and this was a great experience to see how DFO (Fisheries and Oceans Canada) and the crab fishers work together to discuss the status of the crab stocks and to discuss the year ahead. There are many things within this meeting that are so interesting to see and hear, and to attend these type of events really helps to put another picture on the fisheries and conservation work that is done in academia, and the research that i am doing It brings together a fuller picture and I was glad to be there.
The crab fishers out here are such a great group and have a real conservation ethic, they work with DFO, and discussions were interesting.
A great day with some more interviews and lots booked in for our final full day tomorrow.
