Festival of Jeju, new 7 wonder of Nature

Today was my last day at the IUCN WCC congress, and wow, what an event! Wow, it has been so inspiring and an almost overwhelming experience Filled with so much learning, engaging, networking etc. The members forum is still underway until the 15 th, making important voting decisions that will shape IUCNs next four years.

The Jeju people have been nothing short of remarkable, this whole stand is remarkable. All of the participants at this congress have been treated like VIPs, I have never felt so welcomed into a country by absolutely everyone, so nice!

This evening we were all invited by the governor of Jeju self governing Provence to the Tamna festival. Tamna is the original name of Jeju when pele first arrived from the sea. We were ushered to the very front and the show began! They promised us fireworks and a show but phew, it was the most remarkable and stunning blend of fireworks, dance, and digital art that I have ever seen. As fireworks started the event over our heads, a firework bird flew over the sky causing most of us to gasp in surprise and give a big ooooh! So amazing

also, Jeju is now be of the new 7 wonders of nature so this event was the official inauguration of this, a plaque was revealed and it was a moment in history for sure, even the rain didn't dampen spirits with the host of the even saying that the skys were crying with joy, what a wonderful way to put it, and with the warm weather it really did feel great to watch a show like this in the light rains

and then a very grand firework display for over an hour to finish, wow!!

Now, I am ducking out for a day, for my last day and night in Jeju I am going to go on a Templestay. Here, you can stay in a Buddhist temple and join in Buddhist lifestyle so before I fly out, I am very excited to be able to try this, can't wait to go this morning!
