A proper cuppa

Before this blog can truly begin, and before you sit down to have a read, cup of tea in hand (I hope!), I thought I would share some clips to inspire you and help you to make a proper cup of tea :)  There is tea, and there is tea.  Ask any Brit what they always take with them when travelling, and the answer will be, tea!  You never know when that moment will come when you are there, stuck on the plane with no choice, or in a hotel room and you take a sip of the tea and you know, you just know, yes it is Liptons!  There is nothing worse, and so, to be a truly prepared traveller, always travel with your favourite tea.

I do drink quite a lot of tea, and recently having done a lot of studying and writing for my PhD comprehensive exam, I am on an average of 7 cups a day I would guess.  I don't even need a watch, as I know it is 11am once I go to put the kettle on!!   My dad only drinks tea, no water, no juice, nothing, tea all the way.

The classic tea of choice is of course, a good English Breakfast, black tea.  Everyone has a favourite, and depending on your area and family preferences, everyone has a favourite brand.  Back home, if you make good cups of tea, you will have have a regular flourish of visitors, family will love to stop by quite regularly.  If you happen to have cheap teabags and give these out when people come, then you can damage your hosting reputation forever!  Everyone will remember the time that you were given THAT cup of tea!

And so, a good cup of tea is highly important, and all good conversations, business deals, work, studying and more is done over a proper cup of tea.  My favourite tea is Yorkshire Tea, a wonderful strong Northern tea, once you try it, you will love it!  Here is a lovely Yorkshire Tea advert, and then, the important bit, the "how to make a cup of tea" clip.

The important things to remember are the water has to be boiling and it has to have time to brew!

I am busy preparing for my field work, this will first take me up to Labrador were I will be talking to local fishers and I think this trip may also involve a lot of tea drinking.

Just remember.... Keep Calm, and Drink Tea.
